Easy to produce, the t-shirt is the most basic and universal item of clothing par excellence. From Paris to Tokyo, through Ouagadougou, almost the entire population on the planet owns at least one t-shirt. Some use it to sleep in, some to run in, some to work in, while others consider it an artistic medium, a way to demonstrate one’s personal or political affirmations. Tee Shirt Stories proposes to plunge people into the universe of the T-shirt ; its history, its fans, its artistic side, and its business.

How has the t-shirt become fashionable ? If Marlon Brando and his sweat soaked t-shirt drove women all over the world crazy in a Street Car Named Desire, then James Dean must certainly launched the trend of the white t-shirt in Rebel Without a Cause. Since the 50s, the t-shirt has not ceased being modified – each change bearing a reflection of the evolution going on within society : torn, oversized, silk-screened, bleached endless are just a few of the changes it has undergone.
