In February, Intuitive Pictures has chosen Katriel Schory, Executive Director of the Israel Film Fund, as Personality of the Month.
Katriel Schory has been the Executive Director of the Israel Film Fund for the last 12 years, a period of time during which Israeli cinema has been going from practically inexistent to highly respected on the international scene. The main film fund in Israel, the IFF contributes to the production of about 16 films per year.
With 10 films (features and shorts) at the Berlinale this year, including one in competition, the IFF shows once again that the new-found strength of the Israeli film industry is there to last.
Katriel has been involved in the film industry for the past 40 years. He studied at New York University Film School, and then returned to Israel to work as Head of Productions of Kastel Films. He then created his own company, BELFILMS LTD, with which he produced over 200 films.
We had a chat with him on the eve of the Berlinale.
